Alvin Viernes was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. He ethnicities are Filipino and Spanish but Hawaiian in the heart. Alvin Viernes home is just a short walk from the beaches of Kailua-Kona, where he grew up. As a child, he used to play all day in the waves and have been athletic for as long as he can remember. When he was a toddler, his father built a basketball court in my front yard for me and my older brother. In grade school and junior high, he picked up bodyboarding and my parents enrolled me in soccer.
As a result of my training, Alvin Viernes developed the body type of a bodybuilder, which wasn’t exactly my intention. A fitness trainer at the gym noticed my physique and gave me a few tips on how he could improve his diet and training. He said I had potential and encouraged me to compete in the sport of bodybuilding.
Three weeks later, Alvin Viernes competed in my first contest: the 2002 Big Island Fitness Classic, in which he won the teen division. It was the birth of my bodybuilding career and he was only a junior in high school. Alvin Viernes then began competing in statewide competitions. He success qualified me to compete in the national level. My goal is to become a drug-free professional bodybuilder.
